There are "flash IDE drive". There are little drive of 128Mb or more, noiseless, low power need ...
You can install that together with your light Linux to have your router/Firewall.
I agree that the second 1Gb could be very useful for this application. But we just have to be patient a little bit more and we will see the final board.
