Well, put onboard compact flash, two ethernet ports (GigE) and a lightweight linux distribution and instant firewall/router. Boot your linux of a decent sized compact flash.
I would prefer this option as putting CF into the ide header is a bit of a hack if a customer was to pop the top off the case.
