05-Nov-2006: Pegasos II Mainboards discontinued - new evaluation hardware available

The PegasosPPC era has come to an end, when the Pegasos is now being discontinued. The last few remaining boards are being put on sale for $399.

Additionally Genesi has announced that they are now taking orders for new evaluation hardware for OEM customers and early adaptors: the 8641D Reference Design and the TetraPower 970MP motherboard

The EFIKA 5200B is now available at the Genesi webshop for 199USD (160 EUR). EFIKA 5200B is a performance embedded board based around the MPC5200B Power Architecture® System-on-Chip from Freescale Semiconductor.

Genesi is pleased to announce that the Pegasos 8641D Developer Program is now open for application at Power Developer.

The Freescale MPC8641D 2.0 Dual Core Power Architecture™ processor features 2 e600 processor cores, each with AltiVec™ vector processing units, 1MB L2 cache, PCI Express peripheral links, DDR2 memory controller and multiple Gigabit Ethernet ports.

Power Developer is a developer and end-user framework run by Genesi, encompassing Sponsored Project programs, Forums and Workshops, Articles, Downloads, Reference materials and support for Genesi platforms and Power Architecture hardware and software in general.

26-Oct-2006: Genesi: Marvell Discovery V Development Board Support

Genesi is pleased to announce that it will provide under license its hardware abstraction layer and IEEE 1275 compliant Open Firmware for Marvell Discovery V Development Boards.

The Genesi Firmware approach brings with it immediate GNU/Linux kernel support as well as support from a growing number Linux distributions. MorphOS is also supported and an OpenSolaris Power Architecture™ port is also underway. The Genesi Firmware has been and continues to be used to support Power Architecture-based platforms utilizing the Discovery II and the Discovery III northbridges.

The Genesi Firmware enables the vast software resources currently available on the Open Desktop Workstation to be shared with other Power Architecture-based platforms. The Open Desktop Workstation is a CHRP compliant platform based on the PegasosPPC and composed of standard PC components.

Finally, the MorphOS demoversion for the arcade strategy game "Robin Hood: The Legend of Sherwood" is available for MorphOS.

Description:
Do not only take on the role of the hero Robin Hood, but also the roles of his faithful vassals and take them to the battle field against the nasty Prince John Lackland. In doing so you are able to enjoy the fabulous English landscape of 1190 as well as the giant castles and funny characters.
The thrilling story is introduced by an award-winning introduction and transfers you directly into the hero’s body with the first mission, in which you have to set the captive comrades free. Take up the battle against the oppressors and free the farmers from the Prince’s reign! Be smart, be fast! Be Robin Hood!


SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

- Pegasos G3/G4
- 128 MB RAM
- Radeon GFX Card *
- 1GB of hard disk space (full version only)
- CD ROM drive (full version only)
- Enabling the harddisk cache for the partition you have Robin Hood
  installed on will improve the performance of the game.
  (MorphOS/Settings/System settings/SFS)
 
* As the MorphOS SDL implementation (PowerSDL) has removed
  Hicolor support for some GFX cards, using the current
  PowerSDL, Robin Hood will not run on Voodoo

The full game for MorphOS will probably start shipping by the end of next week.
